Here are a few things to consider when selecting an agent.
Research
Look at several agents to get an insight into how they work.
Knowledge
The agent you choose is going to represent you and your property. It is essential that the agent you choose knows the area you're selling in, knows the other properties for sale, and that have sold recently. They should know about schools, transport, distance from townships, and the sorts of buyers looking for homes in the area.
Communication
You need to be very honest with an agent during the selling process and hence you need to make sure you are comfortable with the agent and can have open communication.
Value
Does the agent represent good value for money? Are their costs and commission reasonable?
Punctuality
Were they on time to the appraisal and other appointments?
Process
What do you think of the marketing and advertising for the properties the agent has listed?
Results
Look at the agent's results, making sure you look at the properties the agent has sold recently. Check out their latest results or ask, for example, sale prices and time on market.
